December is a nervous time for turkeys around the world, what with Christmas just around the corner. However, there’s one town just 25km south of Calais where the turkey is given centre stage, without first having to see the inside of an oven. Liques has been holding its annual turkey festival since the 17th Century.

Every year, approximately 100 turkeys are paraded through the town, herded (or in some cases, chased) by farmers, dignitaries and locals. As well as the turkey parade, there is a huge market showcasing the best local produce and delicacies from the area. And should the December chill get the best of you, be sure to sample the local liquor,  Licquoise, which is brewed in a huge cauldron in the centre of town.

If you’re there, you’ll want to talk turkey with your family and friends, and what better way to do it than with a GO-SIM international SIM card. With a UK and US number, and call rates from just 56c per minute, we think that it’s such a good deal, you’ll want to immediately gobble one up.
